About Nor-Tec®
Leading manufacturer of placer gold wash plants
Our Story
Nor-Tec®, formally known as "The Gold Machine", has been leading the way on gold recovery technology for almost 40 years. Our journey began in the late 1980s when our founder Ray, while mining in the Cariboo region of British Columbia, started designing what would later become our flagship models. Driven by a desire to catch all types and sizes of gold, reduce water usage, and improve productivity without sacrificing recovery, Ray worked tirelessly to find solutions to the problems that miners face with other plants.
Ray would continue to refine and perfect his design while continuing to mine in Western Canada, before establishing a manufacturing company to provide the highest quality equipment and create successful operations for customers across the globe. The current generation of Nor-Tec® equipment now leads the way in gold recovery and environmental sustainability in mining, accomplishing the goals Ray set for himself all those years ago, and accomplishing even more besides. Our wash plants set new standards in the industry of placer mining, maximizing recovery while minimizing environmental impact. With reduced water usage, better tailings management and versatile classification, lower fuel consumption, and the ability to adjust to any kind of aggregate, Nor-Tec® wash plants can create a more profitable and sustainable mining operation, reducing impacts and providing better margins and greater longevity in any kind of ground.
Our Founder
Ray Brosseuk
Ray Brosseuk began designing The Gold Machine (now Nor-Tec®) in the late 1980's while mining in the Cariboo region of British Columbia. Working with his experience in fabrication, and a raw talent for innovative design, Ray created his own prototypes to test on his claims. Within a few years Ray had a model that he would, and still, continues to use to this day on his claims in the Yukon Territory, a longevity of over 30 years! Working from the model, Ray founded Northern Placer Technologies and with formalized manufacturing drawings and global patents, began to produce and deliver the models we sell around the world today.
Ray continues to mine seasonally in the Yukon, never losing his love of the work or the search for gold. In addition to his own operations, he has lent his creativity and ingenuity to mining operations across the globe, consulting and partnering on projects from Africa to Australia and everywhere in between. Ray spends his off-seasons personally overseeing the manufacturing of each Nor-Tec ® machine, making sure that every model delivered is made to the highest standards.
Our Growth
After being approached by many fellow miners with requests for Gold Machines of their own, Ray recognized the need for a professionally manufactured and commercially available version of his innovative equipment. In 2011, he founded Northern Placer Technologies (now known as Nor-Tec®) and began producing wash plants in his hometown in British Columbia.
What began as a personal challenge for his own mining projects has grown into a global operation. Today, Nor-Tec® manufactures four premiere models of placer gold wash plants and delivers them to projects across the globe.
Our Global Presence
From our beginnings in Western Canada, Nor-Tec® equipment can now be found operating in mining operations across globe. Our machines have proven their effectiveness in diverse and challenging geography, from snowy alpine valleys to arid desert washes to thick jungles. Wherever gold is found, our plants will run better and last longer.
